What’s new in NX 2506

Manufacturing (CAM)
App Hub – The latest cloud-based marketplace for CAM applications
App Hub is a cloud-based marketplace for modular and third-party apps, such as (insert examples). Apps can be installed with one click and kept current with the latest NX CAM features. Fully embedded in the CAM environment and accessible via the CAM Applications ribbon, App Hub enables browsing, downloading, and launching apps directly within NX—no browser needed, no workspace disruption.

Machine Powered Programming
NX CAM takes machine programming to the next level by automating complex tasks, reducing manual input, and making intelligent decisions throughout the process. Programming effort is significantly reduced, clicks are cut in half while process quality increases. Acting like a built-in expert, NX CAM configures operations automatically based on part geometry and machine capabilities. Manual adjustments are minimized, as the system determines optimal parameters independently. Whether new to CAM or highly experienced, users benefit from smart, context-sensitive prompts that appear precisely when needed, ensuring both guidance and efficiency.
Check Tool Path for Machine Collisions
Machine powered programming now combines visual verification with automated collision checking to ensure safer and more efficient machining. The Display Tool in Machine feature offers real time previews of the machine state during programming. Safety is further enhanced with Check Tool Path for Machine Collisions, which automatically detects potential collision risks, even those not immediately visible.
Display Machine Axis values during CAM Programming
Real time feedback provides full visibility into mill turn scenarios, enabling faster decisions and immediate validation. NX actively predicts and prevents potential issues during programming.
The updated machine axis dialog offers intuitive sliders and manual input fields for precise positioning, even while editing tools or adjusting operations. Dynamic toolpath animation shows live machine movement, including real time axis positions and automatic alerts for limit violations. This level of control and visualization enhances confidence in machine operations and improves toolpath accuracy.
Graphical Tool Interaction
The tool commissioning process has been streamlined through direct graphical interaction within NX. Instead of using complex lists in Operation Navigator or Machine Setup Configurator, tools can now be selected visually to display names, remove them, or change their positions. This intuitive approach removes the need to search through overloaded interfaces, enabling faster and more efficient commissioning. Even complex configurations with multiple tools and carriers are now easier to manage through simple visual interaction.
Tool Holder Support
Tool holder management in the latest NX CAM has been improved for greater clarity and ease of use. Instead of using generic labels like _DEVICE or _HEAD, the system now applies the clear and consistent classification TOOL_HOLDER for changeable heads, turning tool holders, and drill holders. Once tools and holders are configured, the setup remains unchanged throughout the CAM process. This ensures consistent machining results without unexpected modifications – what is defined is reliably retained.
Facing Spiral
The latest NX CAM upgrade enhances spiral face milling with real time visual feedback, showing immediate effects of parameter changes such as overhang, floor thickness, and start point. This enables accurate, error free programming. Both circular and morph spiral patterns are supported, delivering smoother cuts and more consistent surface finishes across planar faces while retaining traditional face milling functions. With a streamlined interface and faster toolpath generation, complex face milling becomes easier and more efficient, even on challenging geometries.
2D Wall Milling
The new 2D Wall Profiling focuses on speed and simplicity. A cleaner interface presents only the essential options, eliminating the need to navigate complex menus. As settings are adjusted, the toolpath updates instantly on screen. Flat, chamfer, and ball mills are fully supported, with easy setup of part, wall, and avoidance geometries. Whether machining a full wall or just a section, the desired range can be defined with minimal effort.
2D Face Mill Midpass – Support Multiple Faces
Face Mill Mid Pass simplifies multi surface machining by allowing multiple faces to be programmed in a single operation. Instead of creating separate operations, users can select all required faces and define their sequence manually or let NX optimize the toolpath. When faces are close together, the Merge Distance feature ensures smooth transitions in a single pass. This reduces setup time and delivers more efficient toolpaths, especially for complex surfaces. The result is faster programming, greater flexibility, and improved face milling performance across multiple surfaces.
Facing Zig Zag – Contain path to specified machining surface
NX now delivers smarter toolpath containment, ideal for castings and irregular stock. Cutting is limited to areas with material directly above the machining surface, ignoring unrelated or disconnected geometry. Unwanted toolpaths from nearby excess material are avoided, resulting in cleaner, more precise machining. With Trim Boundaries and Contain Blank To options, users stay in full control and reduce unnecessary machine movements.
Further new features
NX X Manufacturing offers a flexible cloud solution for manufacturing teams with local or streamed access. The new Essentials package enables cost-effective entry with 3D visualisation, data management and post-processor access. Additional functions such as on-machine probing or CMM inspection can be flexibly added via credits. Integrated data management ensures structured collaboration without external PLM.
NX On-Machine Probing
New Machine Cycle Manager enables visual control of measurement cycles, including user-defined cycles and optimised sequences. Multi-point measurements are faster and more reliable thanks to the snap function. Cycle programming is more efficient with direct editing, improved graphics and intelligent parameter suggestions.
NX CMM Inspection Programming
Adaptive toolpath generation for faster programming with fewer manual steps. Constructed features can now be created automatically, including cutting lines, centre points and best-fit geometries.
Part Manufacturing Data Management
Improved filters in Active Workspace show only relevant attributes. MRL now supports DIN 4000-180 for precise collision planning. Brownfield Connector enables the connection of older machines without hardware changes.
NX Assembly Line Planner
Multi-user collaboration allows parallel work on an assembly line in real time. Data remains synchronised and secure.
NX Line Designer
Simultaneous layout planning with visual user guidance. Improved integration with Tecnomatix and Process Simulate for consistent kinematics data. New functions for transferring parameters between components simplify planning.
